The Directorate General of the National Qualifications Framework held four Capacity Building Workshops on Listing Qualifications on the Oman Qualifications Framework for the Vocational Education and Training Sector in Oman.

As part of the implementation of the mandate of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA), in accordance with Royal Decree No. 9/2021, relating to “training educational personnel in the field of quality assurance of school higher education and the national qualifications framework” the OAAAQA, represented by the Directorate General of the National Qualifications Framework (DGNQF), held four Capacity Building Workshops on Listing Qualifications on the Oman Qualifications Framework (OQF) in December 2022.
These workshops were dedicated to the Vocational Education and Training sector in Oman, represented by the Directorate General of Vocational Training and the Directorate General of Private Training Institutions in the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in addition to the Vocational Colleges (Seeb, Sur, Ibri, Buraimi and Saham, Shinas and the Vocational College of Marine Sciences in Al-Khaboura) . 100 participants attended the workshops.
Prof Nabil Al-Bazrah, the OQF Expert, provided an overview of the OAAAQA’s responsibilities, vision and mission as well as a detailed explanation of the governance, management and implementation of the OQF. He also presented the OQF Level Descriptors in addition to the OQF terms, and the Qualifications Arrangements.
During the workshops, a brief presentation was delivered on the OQF Listing Criteria  and process, with a focus on the important role that the Vocational Education and Training sector should play in the development and implementation of its quality assurance procedures on the qualifications offered. The workshops also included some details about the Re- Listing process and the National Register of Qualifications (NRQ).
At the end of the workshops, the Vocational Education and Training providers were urged to start reviewing their qualifications to ensure that they meet the requirements of the OQF. The four workshops were well received by the participants, who expressed their thanks to the organisers at the DGNQF.
