OAAAQA Issues GFPQA Report of Oman Tourism College

31 Mar 2022

The General Foundation Programme Quality Audit (GFPQA) Report of the Oman Tourism College (OTC) has been released for publication today, 31 March 2022, on the website of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA). The Report is the result of a Quality Audit process that the Authority carried out in accordance with the OAAAQA GFPQA Manual. The OAAAQA Board approved the OTC GFPQA Report on 14 March 2022.

The GFPQA Report comments on the appropriateness and effectiveness of General Foundation Programme (GFP) systems for the achievement of the College`s Mission and Vision. GFPQA is designed to provide constructive feedback to institutions to assist with the ongoing improvement of their GFP. The Report contains a summary of the Panel’s findings, together with formal Commendations, where good practices have been confirmed; Affirmations, where ongoing quality improvement in the GFP merits support, and Recommendations, where there are significant opportunities for improvement not yet being adequately addressed. The Report aims to provide a balanced set of observations but does not comment on every system in place in the GFP.

The GFPQA commenced with OTC undertaking a self-study of its Mission, Vision and systems in relation to the GFP. The results were summarised in a GFPQA Portfolio. This document was submitted to OAAAQA on 7 July 2021, and was initially reviewed by the Panel (Click here) on 10 August 2021. A subsequent Planning Visit took place at the College on 7 September 2021 to request additional information and to finalise arrangements for the Panel’s Audit Visit.

The Audit Visit took place from 25 to 28 October 2021. During this Visit, the Panel interviewed a wide range of College stakeholders, including management, academic and administrative staff and students. They also visited a number of venues and examined additional documents related to GFP. To view and/or download the Report (Click here).
