OAAAQA Accredits University of Nizwa

12 Feb 2023

Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) has now completed an Institutional Standards Assessment (ISA) of University of Nizwa (UoN). This ISA (the second stage of the Institutional Accreditation process) has resulted in a summative decision about the meeting of standards and associated criteria which is now made available on the OAAAQA website (click here).

UoN submitted the ISA Application on 2 January 2022 and a Panel was formed to undertake the ISA process. The Panel comprised of experienced locally-based and international reviewers (click here). During the Visit, which took place between 8 to 12 May  2022 at UoN’s premises (with the exception of ‘Day Zero’, a day of Panel discussions before the interviews at the University commenced), the Panel spoke with over 120 people, including representatives of the governing authorities, staff, students and external stakeholders. The Panel also reviewed a range of additional evidence and supporting materials.

The OAAAQA Board approved the resulting ISA Report on 23 January 2023 and the University has received a copy of that report. This report will not be made publicly available but will be circulated as a confidential document to OAAAQA Board Members and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The UoN ISA resulted in an Accreditation Outcome of ‘Accredited’. UoN now joins the ranks of other HEIs already accredited by OAAAQA. You can find all accredited institutions on OAAAQA website: www.oaaaqa.gov.om.
