Dr Salim Radhawi has been working as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a Board Member of Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) (formerly Oman Accreditation Council - OAC) since 2012. He also has been a Member of the Education Council since 2012 and a Board Member of the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education since 2007. He has had experience of working in the higher education sector in three countries (Oman, UAE and Canada) at management, quality assurance, curriculum development, teaching, and research levels of responsibility.

In Oman, Dr Radhawi worked as Quality Assurance Expert and Acting CEO of OAAA from May 2010 to April 2012. Prior to that, he worked in the Technical Secretariat (TS) of OAC from February, 2006, taking on the role of Acting Head from 2007 to 2010.  With both OAC and OAAA, he has been responsible for the management of the TS and the Executive Office, respectively, and has contributed to the development and implementation of the national quality management system. He has also been involved with a variety of quality assurance activities both nationally and regionally. In 2006, he was one of the winners of the Australian Universities Quality Forum best poster award. This award is given annually to the best poster presented in the Forum which presents original and accurate scholarly work or practice.

Between 2005 and 2006, he was Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Musanna College of Technology, Oman and prior to that, he was Head of Department, the Higher College of Technology, Oman from 2004 to 2005. Between 2001 and 2004 Dr Radhawi was Assistant Professor, UAE University. There he was heavily involved in the preparation process for re-accreditation of the Civil Engineering Program by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Other academic positions held by Dr Radhawi have included Senior Lecturer at the Muscat Technical Industrial College, Oman, and part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa, Canada from 1989 - 1999, where he had previously conducted his post doctorate studies. Dr Radhawi obtained his MSc (Engineering) in 1988, Ph D (Engineering) in 1995 and his Master of System Science in 1998. He has been a member of the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario, Canada, since 1999, and a consultant of Oman Society of Engineers, since 2010. His research work in the field of structural engineering was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), receiving the ASCE 2000 Raymond C Research Prize, which is awarded every year to the author(s) of a paper published by ASCE that describes a notable achievement in research related to structural engineering and which indicates how the research can be applied.
