OAAAQA Issues the IQA Report for Higher Institute of Health Specialities

01 Jul 2024

Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) has now completed an Institutional Quality Audit (IQA) of the Higher Institute of Health Specialities (HIHS). The report is now made available on the OAAAQA website.

HIHS submitted the IQA Portfolio on 20 August 2023 and a Panel was formed to undertake the IQA process. The Panel comprised experienced locally-based and international reviewers. The Visit took place between 10-14 December 2023 (with the exception of ‘Day Zero’, a day of Panel discussions before the interviews at the Institute commenced) at HIHS’s premises. During the Visit the Panel spoke with over 75 people, including representatives of the governing authorities, staff, students and external stakeholders. The Panel also visited a selection of venues and reviewed a range of additional evidence and supporting materials.

On 28 May 2024, the OAAAQA Board approved HIHS IQA Report, a copy of which has been received by HIHS. The Report contains a summary of the Panel’s findings, together with formal Commendations where good practices have been confirmed, Affirmations where HIHS`s ongoing quality improvement efforts merit support, and Recommendations where there are significant opportunities for improvement not yet being adequately addressed. The Report aims to provide a balanced set of observations, but does not comment on every system in place at the Institute.
